27 Rules for Conquering the Gym! →
fierce-fit-fabulous:
1. A gym is not designed to make you feel instantly better about yourself. If a gym wanted to make you feel instantly better about yourself, it would be a bar.
2. Give yourself a goal. Maybe you want to lose 10 pounds. Maybe you want to quarterback the New York Jets into the playoffs. But be warned: Losing 10 pounds is hard.
3. Develop a gym routine. Try to go at least...

Oh dear twelve miles...
My mom is so cute ^_^v
She always know the right things to say when I feel stressed, groggy, or the taboo word.. fat. Funny, down to earth, best-mother-on-the-face-of-this-earth status. For her, it was always kids > everything else. It boggles my mind how much time and money she invested in my two younger siblings and me. She never ran out of love or patience. Especially patience. We were horrible kids, we...

Roses and some chocolate (really good chocolate, in a box) on Valentine’s Day are great, but the roses come with possible pesky environmental issues, and as for chocolate, free trade issues, not to mention the marketing battle over whose bittersweet is better. A man in San Francisco set the bar a little higher, biking a path for Valentines Day, tracking it with his iPhone and GPS and...

Day thirtyeight- recap
Day38; Six miles
Ran by myself (in the daytime too!). I noticed I run longer during the day-there are more distractions. I wanted to quit by mile three, but thank goodness I didn’t.
Ran 6.92 miles. Pace was 10:17, which I think is pretty good for having a 11:33 mile @mile three. Without the stoplights maybe my pace would have been 10:00. Who knows.
Right now = in the best mood ever....

Day twentynine + thirty + thirtyseven recap.
Day29; rest day
Intended rest day. But bought new gear and decided had to try them out. Ran around three miles, conversational pace, untimed.
I absolutely love my compression socks! 60 bucks? Totally worth it. Next time, i’ll just buy them online—it’s a lot cheaper. The insoles were bothering me, but I dealt with it.
Day30; three miles
First run in the rain (i’ve...
Mondays got a little bit brighter.
My OT internship always brightens my day. Gotta keep working hard to become an occupational therapist. It’s what i’m destined to do. I can do it!

Am I dreaming?
What? I might be running the Tough Mudder this year? Oh really?! Isn’t it a tad expensive?
Wait what? One of your cousins is paying for your registration? As an early graduation present? Forreal?
Theres more? Your other cousin offered to pay for one of your marathons? You’re freaking kidding.
I was just talking to my friend about how taking up running as a sport can be expensive....

OR Fifty Miles of Mud…
Saturday I finished Rocky Raccoon 50 Mile Endurance Run, my first ultramarathon and first trail race.

Day twentyeight- cross training
Didn’t go to Davis’s running store (realized I was a broke college student ..who has a midterm on Monday). Instead, I went to the 24-hour room on campus, which is a huge room where students study. Stayed there from 1PM-9PM. Had lunch/dinner at subways (Veggie delight ftw!). Came home, watched two episodes of Nikita while doing a total of 100 pushups in intervals of 15-20.
Hopefully...

Day27; 11 mile run
I’ve been looking forward to this run since Monday. But within half a mile of running, I wanted to call it quits.

Is two months enough?
Today, I came across a marathon in Oakland that interested me. I really want to run this. It’s close by and a big event. It would be an awesome first-marathon. What im wondering is, is two months enough time to train for a marathon? If it is enough time, what runs should I cut and keep? I’m almost at the end of week four (the training schedule is 18 weeks long). I’m worried if I...

Day after my 10 miler, and I wanted to take it slow. Ran a quick three mile run before class.
Day25: “three” six mile run
Ran with a friend. We talked about family, future plans, and our college experiences. My pace was slower than normal, but it was nice. The run felt pretty short. :) The weather was perfect (it was around 45*...
Today’s limits are next year’s warm-ups!
